Named after Shakespeare's famous star-crossed lovers, Romeo y Julieta’s history as a Habano brand dates back to 1875.

The brand gained international acclaim in the early 20th century under the leadership of Don 'Pepin' Rodriguez, a visionary promoter who recognised the potential of the cigar band. During his prime, no fewer than 20,000 different bands were produced.

Winston Churchill became an avid fan of the brand, and after visiting Havana in 1946, his name not only graced a cigar band but also became synonymous with Romeo y Julieta’s most iconic size—the Churchill.

In the 21st century, two more sizes were added to the range: the Short Churchill, a robusto introduced in 2006, and the Wide Churchill, launched in 2010 at the 21st Festival del Habano. The latter features a 55 ring gauge, catering to the growing preference for thicker cigars.

Romeo y Julieta’s well-balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region delivers the quintessential medium-bodied Habano.

Today, Romeo y Julieta is as globally recognised as ever, offering the most extensive range of long-filler sizes of any Habano brand.
