Named after Shakespeare's tragic lovers, Romeo y Julieta has been a celebrated Habano brand since 1875.

The brand gained international recognition in the early 20th century under the leadership of Don 'Pepin' Rodriguez, a master of promotion who was one of the first to harness the power of the cigar band. At the height of production, over 20,000 different bands were used.

Winston Churchill became a loyal follower of the brand, and after his visit to Havana in 1946, his name was immortalised not only on a cigar band but also in the marque’s most famous size—the Romeo y Julieta Churchill.

In the 21st century, two additional sizes joined the range: the Short Churchill, introduced in 2006 as a robusto that had been missing from the line-up, and the Wide Churchill, launched in 2010 at the 21st Festival del Habano, boasting a 55 ring gauge in response to the growing preference for thicker cigars among aficionados.

Romeo y Julieta’s perfectly balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region creates the quintessential medium-bodied Habano.

Today, Romeo y Julieta remains as popular as ever and offers the broadest range of long-filler sizes of any Habano brand.
